What this test is
RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) detects the RNA of SARS-CoV-2 from a nasopharyngeal swab. It is the most accurate COVID-19 test available and the test accepted for international travel, hospital admission, and surgical pre-checks. Results are typically ready within 24 hours of sample collection. The swab takes about 30 seconds — uncomfortable but not painful.
